Mercado & Negrón (2014) removed knausi Swaine from synonymy. I have seen specimens from Arizona and New Mexico and agree that these (knausi) are not conspecific with planirostris from central Mexico. This means that most records cited by Wood (1982) and in this database from the southwestern U.S. actually refer to that species.
