Taxonomy Comments
SImth & Cognato (2022:8) concluded that the type of X. californicus Wood is distinct from C. boadoanum Reitter with which it had been placed in synonymy. No other records from North America or Asia (its putative origen) were known at the time of writing. Other records from California and the west coast are of C. bodoanum. Whether or not C. califronicum (Wood) is still present in North America is an open question.
