Wood (1966: 30) synonymized monticolae Swaine under tsugae Swaine. In 1977 (388) he also placed reflexua Blackman and wickhami Blackman in synonymy as well. In his 1982 monograph monticolae Swaine and reflexua Blackman are treated as valid species without comment and wickhami Blackman is treated as a synonym of reflexus.
