Bark and Ambrosia Beetles of the World

Wood (2007) listed Cladoctonus americanus for the material cited here from Campeche, Mexico in Wood & Bright (1992: 238). No species description was ever made so the name has no standing in nomenclature (nomen nudum). In any event I have compared the specimens from Campeche and other parts of Mexico to the type of cubensis Wood and see no justification for recognizing a distinct species.
