Pseudohylesinus variegatus
Bright (1969) treated maculosus Blackman as a synonym of variegatus Blandford. The two ‘species’ as treated by Wood (1982) are narrowly parapatric. Further collecting in northern Mexico may close the distribution gap.

Records of this species prior to 1969 may refer to P. pini Wood which was described that year. Bright (1970) designation a specimen in the Museum of Comparative Zoology as a lectotype. Wood & Bright (1992) make no mention of this and refer to a holotype in Helsinki.
