Bark and Ambrosia Beetles of the World

Mercado & Negron (2014: 311) erected a new genus for this species, removing it from Hylurgops on purely morphological grounds. I question whether this is justified, as no phylogenetic analysis was provided. This species is readily distinguished from North American species of Hylurgops.
