Bright (1981: 328) noted that the unique holotype is missing the head and prothorax. Consequently this name cannot be unequivocally be matched with any extant species. He suggests that it might be a senior synonym of Pseudopityophthorus hondurensis Wood. Wood (1982: 967) suggest a similar conclusion in his key to species but does not explicitly state this opnion.
