Bright (1981) treated as synonym of P. deletus LeConte. Wood (Wood & Bright, 1992) restored dolus to species status. Wood described dolus from McCloud, California. The other 2 localities were referred to P. dolus by Bright & Stark (1973). Specimens from the Idyllwild locality were designated paratypes of P. brucki by Bright (1977). Wood (1977) synonymized brucki with deletus. The Bass Lake specimens cited by Bright & Stark (1973) are not cited by Bright (1981). It is highly likely that dolus Wood is a synonym of deletus LeConte as proposed by Bright (1981).
