Blackman (1922, 1938) proposed names for this species, currently treated as synonyms, because of the unusual pattern of host associations. While lautus’ as currently treated is found in several totally unrelated hosts, it is not at all clear that it in fact is polyphagous and may in fact consist of a complex of distinct, host-specific populations or cryptic species. This could be resolved with molecular techniques.
